As September arrived, the fall migation season took off with a "bang". September 8 brought an unseasonable electrical storm, accompanied by light rain. For the next three days, coastal fog persisted and a number of rare vagrant landbirds were spread along the outer coast, from Pt.Reyes to Bodega Bay. In late August, a pelagic trip from Bodega Bay to Fort Bragg produced a Shy Albatross, a first for California. Other notable sightings:
