The Geat Backyard Bird Count

by Kathy Angell

This is a special invitation for youngsters and their families to participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count, February 19-22, 1999. You can get ready by learning the names of birds in your neighborhood and finding a good place to observe them (a feeder in your own yard is convenient, or find a spot in a nearby park that is popular with birds).

For information and free materials about the Great Backyard Bird Count, visit the BirdSource web site at <http://birdsource.cornell.edu>. This program is conducted through Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society.
