Madrone Needs Your Support Contract on Mayacamas Restoration Planning Agreement on Hillside Ordinance |
Saturday, November 14 Seed-Gathering at SanctuaryIn preparation for restoration work at the Mayacamas Mountain Sanctuary, Madrone Audubon is hosting a seed-gathering day at the preserve on Saturday, November 14. The purpose is to start an inventory, or "bank" of native plants for use in future restoration projects, especially in the riparian zones. Circuit Rider Productions will grow the plants for us at their nursery in Windsor. Granted, it's a little late in the season for seed gathering, so wear your hiking boots and be prepared to do some hiking and bird-watching too. If we don't find enough seeds we will probably take some cuttings from various native plants, and we will certainly learn a lot about the trees and shrubs on the preserve. Dress in long pants and long sleeves. We'll meet expedition leader Jason Miller of Circuit Rider Productions at the Jimtown Store at 9 AM. All volunteers are welcome! Any questions? Phone Bill Payne, 546-3331. |
