Help Needed! In Madrone Audubon, nothing happens without volunteers. There currently are openings in some very important slots, where you can really make a difference. If you can help, please call Joannie Dranginis at 523-4373. Corresponding Secretary. This involves picking up the mail twice a week, retrieving messages from the answering machine, routing things to the appropriate people, and writing thank-you notes for donations. A crucial job, but one that can be done mostly from home. Audubon Adventures. One of our most important and successful projects. This involves signing up new teachers for the program, which costs $35 per classroom per year, and matching sponsors with the interested teachers. Robert Evans, who took this project to new heights last year, is immersed in conservation activities now, but will be helpful to the person who takes over from him. Outreach Organizer. For lack of an Outreach organizer, we are missing excellent opportunities to get the word out about birds, conservation, birding, and Madrone Audubon. The chapter has a handsome new portable exhibit and some excellent hand-out materials, but we need somebody to help get them out into the community. Hospitality. Ever notice how there's usually someone to greet you and make you feel welcome at Madrone membership meetings? Those folks are from our Hospitality Committee, which needs new helpers. Please note: this is not necessarily a woman's job! |
