Early Birdathon Report

As the Leaves goes to press, Madrone Audubon has already received almost $4,000 in pledges from its February, 1998 Birdathon. The funds will help support Pee Wee Audubon, the Mayacamas Sanctuary, Audubon Adventures, and other local education and conservation programs.

Teams participating and the number of species seen were: The Roadrunners (133 species), Betty Groce and Jean and Jim Tonascia, plus Dennis Beall; The Presidents (62 species), Jeff Holtzman, Dan Kahane, and Peter Leveque, Madrone President, Vice-president, and Past President; The Immature Juveniles (59 species), participants in the Saturday morning Beginners' Bird Walks, led by Bill Payne, Ken Wilson, and John Ferrari; The Feather Questers (115 species), Diane Hichwa and Karen Nagel; The Western Wood Pee Wees (38 species), Pee Wee Audubon youngsters and their families, led by Kathy and David Biggs; and The Gray-headed Seersuckers (119 species), Betty Burridge, Ian Morrison, Bill Payne, and Ken Wilson.

All contributors will be listed in next month's newsletter.
