January General Meeting Our January 19 membership meeting will be a very special three-part "show and tell" event. Bring your binoculars and/or birding scope, wear your favorite wildlife T-shirt, and photographers, select a few of your most interesting outdoor slides to share. Here's what's planned. First, we'll have a showing of members' favorite slides of birds, birding trips, or nature experiences. Each presenter can include up to ten slides; a microphone will be available for a brief narration. We can expect to see a wonderful variety of presentations, ranging from the back yard to the remotest corners of the earth, and there will be prizes for the favorites. Those with slides to show, please call Peter Leveque 542-8946 for more details. The second part of the program will be a brief presentation on what to look for in birding optics, followed by an opportunity to try out many different types of binoculars and scopes on some actual (though probably not living) birds. Please bring your own binoculars and/or scope with tripod, to share and compare with others. This event will be helpful to anyone who may ever want to purchase new binoculars or a scope. And don't forget to wear your favorite wildlife T-shirt! There will be prizes for this, too. The meeting begins at 7:30 PM, Monday evening, January 19, 1998, at the First Presbyterian Church in Ingram Hall, 1550 Pacific Avenue, Santa Rosa. As always, the public is welcome and there is no charge.
