Bouverie Docent Training

The Bouverie Preserve is accepting applications now for its fall, 1997,docent training program. An orientation session will be held on May 21 andagain in August for those who think they may wish to participate.

Docents gain a knowledge of natural history and environmental educationthat prepares them to share their love of nature with third and fourth gradeschoolchildren who visit the Preserve. The training class begins in Septemberand meets every Thursday (except holidays) for six months. Docents mustattend all sessions and commit to attending review programs and workingwith school groups at the Preserve during two consecutive spring and fallterms.

Class size is limited to 35 people and this outstanding program is verypopular, so early registration is advised. To obtain an application or additionalinformation, call the Bouverie Preserve at 938-4554.

The Bouverie Preserve is owned and managed by Audubon Canyon Ranch, whichalso operates preserves at Bolinas Lagoon and at Cypress Grove on TomalesBay. Audubon Canyon Ranch is sponsored by Madrone and three other Bay Areachapters of the National Audubon Society, but is a separate non-profit organization.
