The Winter of the Red-breasted Nuthatch

Holiday celebration at the Bird Rescue Center, December 8, 10:00 to 2:00.Popular naturalist John Klobas will lead us on a nature walk near the Center,where we will look for wintering birds and animal tracks. Back at the BirdRescue Center we'll see some of the resident hawks, owls and vultures. Thenwe'll make bird treats and holiday crafts. Bring binoculars, lunch and abeverage. The Bird Rescue Center is off Chanate Road across from Santa RosaCommunity Hospital on County Farm Road. Follow signs to the third building onthe right. You must make a reservation to attend this outing.

Third Annual Bat Festival, Saturday, January 25. An exciting afternoon withbats will feature live school bats from the Bat Conservation Fund. PatriciaWinters will present a slide show, bat games and activities. This is anopportunity to learn about bats, how valuable they are to our environment, andwhat we can do to help protect them. We will actually see these amazingcreatures up close. We'll meet in the Forum Room of the Central Library--thecorner of Third and E Streets, downtown Santa Rosa.

You must make reservations for either or both of these programs with Elham at573-7183. Space is limited for these very popular programs so be sure to callearly. If you can't attend please cancel so someone else may attend.
